#1042 - Sync of Company names
Hi,
When I add a contact in Mailchimp the company/account name is not synced back to SugarCRM, is that correct? Already tried this a few times with different lists etc, but still the same issue!
Thanks in advance

Hi, sorry for the delay! We've been out for the holidays.
The Company/Account name will not sync from MailChimp to Sugar unless it's a simple text field that is on the Contact module in Sugar. SugarChimp will not create a new Account record and relate the new Contact to that Account. Does that make sense?
If you're going from Sugar to MailChimp you can sync the contact.account_name field using the SugarChimp Field Mapper and it will send the Account name of a Contact to MailChimp.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions on this. Thanks!

Hi again, just following up on this.
Does my response make sense? Do you have any other questions?
Thanks!

Hi,
Thanks for you response, so it's not a problem but simply not possible with SugarChimp?

It's possible, it just takes a little more work because Sugar stores accounts as a separate module so the account name doesn't live on the contact record.
For your use case, I would suggest bringing new people from MailChimp into Sugar as Leads. If you go to your synced target list in Sugar you can select what module new records are created as using the "Create new subscribers as" field. Then I would create a custom field on Leads called "Company Name" and using the SugarChimp Field Mapper to link that field to your MailChimp Company Name field. As new leads come into Sugar from MailChimp via SugarChimp whoever processes your leads can make sure the information is valid and then create and link the Lead to an actual Account record. This would allow for better quality data as well.
Would something like that work for you?

This sound like a good option, I will try that, thanks!

Problem with this situation is that after I convert a lead into a contact i have "duplicate records", so a lead and a contact instance. But only the lead is member of the target list instead of the contact. What's the best practice to do this? I can't imagine i'm the only one dealing with this kind of "default" environment ;)

Sooo many "defaults" haha :)
The integration is based entirely on the email address field and not per record on the Sugar side. So as long as a record in the target list has the email address of the person you want to email, they'll still be represented on the list. If they unsubscribe from a campaign via MailChimp it will remove all records with that email address from the target list and mark that email address as unsubscribed in Sugar.
I think your use case is handled here, but let me know if you have other questions. Thanks!
