#1464 - Mailchimp lists not synching when target list compiled using Quick2List

Closed Bug? created by darryl 9 years ago

Hi,

We're using SugarChimp to synch between Mailchimp and Sugar CRM for a range of email campaigns. This was working fine until we started using Quick2List to add leads and contacts to Target Lists in Sugar. Any contact or lead that is added via the Q2L query is unsubscribed from the Mailchimp list even though they appear in the corresponding target list. Can you fix this via Sugarchimp?

Hi Darryl, I've seen this issue before with Quick2List. Do you happen to have the Remove and Re-add option selected on your Quick2List setup for your list?

It's not really any issue with either product, it's just an issue with using both of the products together. What's happening is Quick2List removes everyone from the Sugar Target List, then re-adds everyone to the list. When Quick2List removes everyone from the list, everyone gets unsubscribed on the MailChimp side, when Quick2List re-adds everyone to the Sugar Target List, they can be resubscribed to the MailChimp List (due to MailChimp's rules) so they stay unsubscribed in MailChimp.

What you should do is use Quick2List in the add-only mode which will add all your new people to the Target List and no one will be unsubscribed in MailChimp unless they're suppose to be.

    Does that make sense?

Actually, it's an "append". However the contacts were originally added manually into MailChimp and then synched across to Sugar.

Thought it might be possible since that's the case that the SQL overwrote the entries (effectively removing and then appending) so I deleted all of the unsubscribed entries from the Mailchimp list to see if they would be re-added. That didn't work so I tried adding a fresh test contact that would append to the target list in Sugar using Q2L. This worked fine which looks good for the future, but isn't helping get the original contacts back on the Mailchimp list - which is the immediate problem.

    Cheers, Iain

OK, seems the problem was that MailChimp had opted them out on Sugar. All synching fine now. And I guess I can just add another Q2L "remove" query to keep the Target List up to date in Sugar. Thanks for your help!

  • "We do a lot of highly-segmented outbound marketing and SugarChimp is exactly what we needed. The list and field syncing are great, and it allows us to do more sophisticated campaigns that exactly target certain Lead profiles in Sugar. The SugarChimp team is also really great, and they are totally committed to our success."
