#2028 - Syncing Target List SugarCRM->MailChimp (cont'd)

REFERENCING: https://www.sugaroutfitters.com/support/SugarChimp/1863 If I add all contacts to my target list that is set to sync with mailchimp, will it automatically recognize duplicates that are already in our mailchimp database? Or will it push all contacts over, regardless if they already exist? I just don't want to have to deal with a mess of duplicates or select contacts one-by-one...

    Hey,

    Thanks for asking! It will not duplicate Contacts inside of MailChimp. The only issue you might run into if having more than one Contact with the same email address from Sugar being added to the List. Then, when synced to MailChimp, only 1 of the Contacts 'info' will be shown for that email address. Does that make sense?

    For example if we have John Appleseed appleseed@ap.ple and Jane Appleseed appleseed@ap.ple, it will only sync one of the contacts since it is set to do it by unique email address? So either John or Jane will show, not both?

    First off, I enjoyed that example. And yes, that is exactly right. In MailChimp you cannot have separate subscribers with the same email address. With duplicate email addresses such as that, it will be a toss up as to which information is populated in MailChimp. However, that same issue is present before you use the 'Sync All' features, nothing new in that case.

    Haha. I don't think John or Jane would like receiving duplicate campaign emails anyway, so that's good. Thanks again for a prompt response, this can be marked as closed.
