Hi, I have an issue where independent records on SuiteCRM for both husband and wife, but with a joint email address, eg familyname@xyz.com have synced to one record, and then on the write back to Suite, have overwritten the data on one record with the other persons name data. Can you advise a workaround for this as this is obviously not a good solution where perfectly good independent records are being merged. Happy to send you a live example if required? Look forward to your response. Thanks, Mark

Hello Mark,
I understand completely where you're coming from. Unfortunately, MailChimp treats each email address as a 'unique id', causing it to be impossible to have two sets of data belonging to a single email address. There is no way to here is not a built-in solution to the issue, but I'm happy to give you a possible work-around.
You may be able to append the beginning of their email address with '+husband' and '+wife' in your SuiteCRM, giving unique emails of 'familyname+husband@xyz.com ' and 'familyname+wife@xyz.com ' so that they now have unique email addresses. With gmail and other google domains, they will still receive all emails at 'familyname@xyz.com'. This solution will not work with all domains, so you would need to ensure that first. If it is supported, then MailChimp will see them as unique, and you will no longer have overlapping records.
Let me know if that is a possibility.
Thanks, Jon

Hello Mark,
I just wanted to follow up with you to see if you were able to get anything working on this issue? What conclusions have you come to in regards to best manage the scenario?
Thanks, Jon

Hi Jon, The suggestion you made regarding the +text within the email address seems to have resolved the problem - obviously not perfect, but good enough for the volume we have. Thanks for your help with this. Mark
