#2892 - Firewall rules to allow SugarChimp to talk to MailChimp
Hi, SugarChimp has installed perfectly on SuiteCRM 7.1 but when I try to add my API KEY for MailChimp the message is "Can't connect to Mailchimp". My corporate IT guys have things locked down fairly tightly and they want to know if the communication between SugarChimp and Mailchimp happens on a particular port (and what protocol is used).
In other words - what is the normal way of restricting access to SugarChimp? We can limit it by IP address but we would also like to restrict by port and protocol if possible. Thanks Andrew

Hello Andrew,
Outbound, SugarChimp makes standard http requests to MailChimp and SugarOutfitters (for licensing). I do not know specific ports, but you are welcome to reach out to MailChimp's API support for more details on that.
We need to be able to reach: %.mailchimp.com (all subdomains) www.sugaroutfitters.com
Inbound requests will come from mailchimp.com, when changes are made to specific items. The will hit the server on our webhook-receiver to be processed. If that is an issue, you can setup a proxy that points to our webhook-receiver in Sugar.
Let me know what else I can help with. For more details on how MailChimp's API communicates you will need to reach out to them.
Thanks, Jon

Jon, We've checked the firewall rules and made the additions you suggest but I am still seeing the error message "Could not Access Mailchimp Server". Have you any suggestions as to how to proceed? I was hoping to see something in the SuiteCRM logfile but there's nothing relevant. Can you think of a way that I can diagnose this problem? Thanks Andrew

The machine running the application can certainly access Mailchimp (i.e. I can login with a browser) but I'n not sure if MailChimp can access the server. Does the error message mean what it says (i.e. the Mailchimp server cant be reached)... or it is possible that this error message appears when Mailchimp fails to respond?

The error happens on those outbound calls only, so the messaging should be correct. Depending on which server the sugarcrm is installed on, it doesn't necessarily mean that sugar has access to MailChimp because the machine does. The best I can do at this time is to get on a call with you and see if we can troubleshoot some together. If you'd like to do that, you can setup a meeting here: https://calendly.com/fanaticallabs/sugarchimp-support.
I look forward to talking more with you then.
Thanks, Jon

Hello Andrew,
Are there any updates on the status of your connection to MailChimp? Were you able to get things moving?
Thanks, Jon

We were able to get on a call and find that there was an issue with SSL verification that was fixed in a previous release. Upgrading to the latest version solved the issue. I'm going to close this case out. Let us know if you have any more questions or concerns!
Thanks, Jon
