Hi,

if somebody unsubscribes in mailchimp how do i get that information to transfer to Sugar CRM, to take it off the target list and to mark that contact as either unsubscribed or opt out?

Kind Regards

    Hello Lauren,

When a list is setup to sync between Sugar and MailChimp, that process will be automatic. You can check all lists set to sync from admin > Health Status, at the very bottom. You can use the SugarChimp Configuration Step 4 to setup as many lists as you need to sync between Sugar and MailChimp.

If you see the list there but are still uncertain that it's working properly, you can look in MailChimp at the List in question. On the list, go to Settings > Webhooks and ensure that you see your SugarCRM url setup there.

Let me know if you have any questions on that.

    Thanks, Jon

      Hi Jon,

the information is syncing between both sugar and mail chimp but when the subscribers unsubscribe they still remain on the target list and are not marked as opt out.

      Kind Regards

    Hello Lauren,

There are different options that could've been changed on the webhook. Can you go to the SugarCRM webhook on the MailChimp List choose 'edit' on the webhook. Then, take a screenshot of the details inside so that I can ensure everything looks good there. Assuming it is, then we will need to look at your Sugar logs to debug further. You can access those from admin > Diagnostic Tools. Click Uncheck everything except sugarcrm.log and then execute and download.

From there, email those things to me at support@sugarchimp.com and I will look to see what I can find.

    Thanks, Jon

    Hello Lauren,

The webhook is probably going to be have issues as it looks to be an ip address that is routed and would lose the data for the call. A quick way to test this would be to find a record in MailChimp with a corresponding Sugar record. We would expect that if you update the MailChimp subscriber's first name by adding a '2', it would update the Sugar record accordingly. Can you see if this works? If so, then we'll need to test the unsubscribe specifically and figure out why that is not processing. It would be quickest to do this over a screenshare. If you'd like to do that, we can set up a time here: https://calendly.com/fanaticallabs/sugarchimp-support

If the profile update does not work, then we can test if the url needs to be updated. You can test that by editing the base of the MailChimp Webhook url. It is currently some ip address (http://217.xxx.xx.xxx:xxxx/) to look exactly like the base url of your SugarCRM. For example: 'https://crm.mycompanyname.com/'

Once that is done, you can try the profile update again. If it works, then we need to update the site_url in Sugar's config.php file. Whoever setup your SugarCRM should be able to help with that. If not, we can give you some guidance on how to do it.

    Thanks, Jon

Hi Lauren, thanks for getting on a call this morning. Like Jon suggested it looks like the site_url was not correct at the time the webhooks were added to Sugar. After changing the site_url (if it needs it), then go to each of your MailChimp lists and update the Webhooks to use the new site_url value.

After you do this, you can test an unsubscribe on the MailChimp side and see if that person in Sugar is marked as opted out. Let us know how it goes. Thanks!

    Hello Lauren,

I am just closing the loop here, as we were able to get everything resolved through a few phone calls. There was a bug in the Account Dashlet that caused certain activities not to display correctly. The issue has been fixed in our latest package. Otherwise, there were network issues where MailChimp was unable to reach Sugar and save the webhooks. Once that has been addressed, all ongoing changes have been saved correctly in Sugar.

Thanks for your patience as we worked through those issues. Let us know how else we can help.

    Kind Regards,

    Jon
