#3436 - Mailchimp Rating value for calculation
Hi there We would like to use the mailchimp rating as a value for a global Lead scoring in Sugar. However, neither the value can be used in sugar studio, nor in the business rule manager for calculation. Any idea how to achieve this?
Thanks Felix

Hello Felix,
We automatically bring that value in from MailChimp as a new field called mailchimp_rating_c, which is put on the record views in a new section labeled SugarChimp. This calculation and updating will happen automatically as we bring in new data from MailChimp.
Are you able to see the field in Sugar?
Thanks, Jon

Hello Felix,
I wanted to follow up with you on this case to see if you are getting the MailChimp Rating field as expected. Is there anything else I can assist you with at this time?
Thanks! Jon

Hello Jon, we are experiencing problems with the MailChimp rating showed in the CRM. It shows every lead as 2 stars, however, we have leads with 3 and 5 stars. The Mailchimp activity is showing correctly though... Any advice?

Hello Monique,
I'm happy to help figure out what could be the issue. Can you look into these things for me:
MailChimp Ratings are only supported on Pro and Ultimate. I could not pull up your license key from this Account, so I do not know if you are on Basic, which would cause the ratings to never update.
Are the records on more than 1 MailChimp List? If so, we could be pulling that data instead of the good 3 or 5 start rating.
We have some settings that could inactivate this update if they are incorrect. To best see this, we could get on a call together to ensure the settings are correct for this value to be updated.
Let me know what you find.
Thanks, Jon

Hi Jon, thanks! I guess is because of the first reason, we don't have currently a Pro plan....
However, we had a considerable amount of leads which were showing a rating of 4, 5 stars in the CRM before. Suddenly this information changed and I see all the leads with 2 stars. Is there any other possibility of updating this MailChimp rating? We already pay about $ 300 a month for our current plan and an upgrade to a pro plan would cost us $200 more...

Hello again Monique,
So I've got good news for you! The Professional level that you were needing was on the SugarChimp subscription, which you are actually already on. You do not need the MailChimp Pro add-on, that will not make a difference for us.
My guess is that we need to update some configuration options which might not be bringing in the new MailChimp ratings as people open and click items in MailChimp. Can you set us up a call for next week, anytime convenient for you on our calendar here: https://calendly.com/fanaticallabs/sugarchimp-support
We should be able to get those ratings working for you rather quickly!
Thanks, Jon

Hi Jon, good to know that. I have scheduled a call for next Thursday, but as I won't be here in the office, I added my boss Gilbert Bork (bork@benedict.ch). Thank you for your support

Jon, I scheduled a call for Thursday on behalf on my boss but I used a wrong email! Instead of bork@bhms.ch, it's bork@benedict.ch. Have you received that? Please, consider the right email, so he will be able to join the call!
Thanks

Hello Monique,
Thank you for scheduling the time. I have updated his email address on the invitation so that he should receive it correctly. We should be good to go, for the call, so I will look forward to talking with him soon. I will update the forum here once we figure out what the problem is. Let me know if you need anything else prior to the call.
Best Regards, Jon

Hi Jon, thanks! Actually yes, I have a question. On the CRM, in the Sugarchimp module under health status, I can see how many leads we have in the system but not in the Mailchimp, but is it possible somehow to export or view these leads? For example, if someone from Sales create a lead manually in the system, this lead won't be going to our list in Mailchimp... Do you suggest anything? Thanks

Sorry, another important question. We realized that when we create leads manually on Mailchimp, they are added automatically to the Sugar CRM, however yesterday we have imported via a csv archive and the leads were not transferred to Sugar... Do you know what is that and if we should use only copy/paste import?

Hello Monique,
I do not understand the problem you are having with viewing Leads inside SugarCRM or MailChimp. Do you want Leads created from the sales team to be automatically added to MailChimp? We can make that work through admin > SugarChimp Configuration > Step 4. On the Sync a List step, there is a spot to choose 'Who to Send to MailChimp', where you can choose to automatically add all Leads to a Target List, which will push them to the MailChimp List.
On the second question, MailChimp imports do not send webhooks for us to know to add people into Sugar. My advice would be to import lists into Sugar, specifically onto a Target List that is synced to MailChimp. From there, SugarChimp will automatically add the new Leads over to MailChimp for you.
Does that help?
Thanks, Jon

Hi Jon, ok, I think I got it that we can transfer the leads if they are in a target list, but I'm wondering how to find exactly only the leads that are in the CRM system but not on Mailchimp...
Regarding the second question, that's really strange, because I have done another test just now, adding a lead manually to a liSt in Mailchimp, and less than 10 seconds after, this lead went to the Sugar CRM. ..

Hello Monique,
I understand your initial question now. The only way to compare the two lists is to export each and compare. However, you should know that all records on the Target List will go to MailChimp, with the exception of duplicates and those records with either missing, invalid, or opted out email addresses.
On the second question, individual additions to MailChimp WILL add to the SugarCRM. What will not add to SugarCRM is when you do a list import into MailChimp (more than 1 subscriber). In that situation, we do not get the update information from MailChimp.
Does that clarify?
Thanks, Jon

Hi Jon, we have a call scheduled today to solve this problem with the stars rating. Thanks

Hello Monique,
I have not heard from you in a while regarding the MailChimp Rating updates, so I'm going to assume they are working as expected now. I'm going to close this case out, but if you have any issues here, you can respond to this note and we can open the case back up.
Cheers! Jon

Hi Jon, unfortunately, the mailchimp rating is not working properly. Since our last call, it stopped updating the rating again. When we did the resync of the list, part of the leads were updated with the mailchimp rating, however, this caused an instability in the system and I don't think is a great idea to use this as a workaround. I remember that you would do a test after our call, but we haven't heard from you since then. We are really upset with this feature since it could help us a lot with the lead classification.

Hello Monique,
Thanks for getting back to me on this. I apologize for any miscommunication after our previous call. I believe I know what the issue is regarding your star ratings not updating consistently. I pulled a report and see that most of the correct ratings are across your systems, but there are definitely some discrepancies. These discrepancies are probably happening for a couple reasons: 1. SugarChimp is not saving the send activities for automated campaigns as of right now. Since these are not being saved in the CRM, then we are also not updating the star ratings on sends. We update the star ratings on all opens and clicks, but only sends from one-time campaigns. 2. There is a delay of up to 24 hours between when someone opens or clicks an email until it updates in Sugar. This is another reason for the differences in star ratings.
With this knowledge, I will see if there could be a better solution for us to grab star ratings. Does this sound consistent with what you've seen?
Thanks, Jon

Hi Jon,
Yes, it looks like the number 1 must be the case since the new leads do not have the stars rating updated even after 24 hours. Is there anything you need from us that could help to come up with a solution for that?
Thanks Monique

Hello Monique,
This is a current limitation in MailChimp's API that makes it unscalable for us to add send activities for automated campaigns. I have reached out just now to MailChimp's API support to see if they have any suggestions or alternatives to fix the issue. I will update you as soon as I hear back from them on a possible solution.
Thanks, Jon

Hello Monique,
I have heard back from MailChimp regarding the ability to update records whenever an automation 'send' has occurred. Here is their response:
I responded with some suggestions as to how we could implement the feature, but we will not know if it is updated until a later time.
Until they change the way this work, we will not be able to fully support the star rating in conjunction with MailChimp's automation features. I'm going to go ahead and close this case out for now.
Best Regards, Jon
