#4104 - Unlink Target from TargetList with Invalid email address Mailchimp updates to Unsubscribed.
Originally I have a target with an email address marked as "invalid" it appears in Mailchimp as "cleaned". If I remove the target from my target list a request is sent to Mailchimp which causes the email address to be changed from "cleaned" to "unsubscribe". If the email address is marked as invalid why is SugarChimp sending anything to Mailchimp. I was under the impression that if I made a change to an email address that was marked as invalid there would be no request sent to Mailchimp.

Thanks for reaching out. You are correct that an email marked as Invalid in Sugar will appear as Cleaned in Mailchimp. However, when a record is removed from the Target List, it should marked the record as unsubscribed in Mailchimp. This will also occur for records that are marked as cleaned through any method other than Mailchimp. For example, if the email is marked cleaned by Mailchimp due to bounces, etc, the email will remain marked as cleaned even if removed from the Target List within Sugar. However, if manually marked as cleaned, the email will be unsubscribed from Mailchimp upon removal from the Target List.
Hope this helps clarify! Please let me know if you have other questions on this.

This still presents a problem because the email address is not in the correct state on Mailchimp. I am now able to resubscribe an invalid email address to my target list by resubscribing the subscriber on the Mailchimp side.

Hi Melody!
Thanks again for chatting with my earlier this week. I'm still looking into the items we discussed and I'll follow up again soon.

Hi Melody,
I wanted to quickly follow up on this specific request (I'll follow up on your other ticket shortly).
As we discussed, when a record is removed from the Target List the record will be marked as unsubscribed in Mailchimp. I checked in with our developer and it sounds like logic we don't anticipate updating anytime in the near future since we want to ensure we err on the side of caution and allow mistakes to be corrected, when needed.
If this is something we change at some point in the future, I'll follow up to let you know!
