#424 - Initial set up questions
Hi
I have signed up for the SugarChimp trial account and installed the module
My questions are:
is it necessary for me to create a target list, add the contacts to the target list for the sync to work? Or if I just add a new contact in Sugar CRM will it automatically sync to Mail Chimp?
When a new contact is added in MailChimp and it syncs to Sugar CRM how can I set set the lead source to show as Mail Chimp in the contact field? where to add the custom field value in Mail Chimp?
Thanks, Kartik

Thanks for trying it out!
1) Yes, you'll need to create a target list in Sugar and select with list in Mailchimp it is suppose to sync to. The sync is based around the lists. Once you add a contact to a synced target list in Sugar, it will be sent to Mailchimp.
2) There's currently not a way to do this. I'll add it to the list for future features. I'll also look to see if there's an easy way to add this in for you. What version/edition of Sugar are you running? Is it On-demand or on-site?
Thanks!

Thanks.
We are running on site community edition. I see a field called "SC_SugarModule" in MailChimp. what is the purpose of this field. If I enter the default value as MailChimp then it could solve the problem - of identifying contacts in the CRM added via email newsletter sign up?
Thanks

The SC_SugarModule field is used internally to know what type of object (Contact, Lead, Target) in Sugar needs to be looked up to keep the record in sync as data is updated. You really shouldn't change that field. Even if you did set the default value to MailChimp, I do not think there would be a way to hook into that on the Sugar side.

ok. I am not going to touch the SC_SugarModule field !
Another question - what happens if I delete the contacts inside MailChimp list? Will the contacts get removed from SugarChimp target list?

https://www.sugaroutfitters.com/docs/SugarChimp/user-guide - At the very bottom of the page, it has a good list of what happens when you do things on each side of the integration.
Yes, if you delete a contact from a Mailchimp list, the contact will be removed from the target list in Sugar, but not deleted from the system.
