#774 - Field Mapping Priority

Closed General Question created by isaacmaxfield 10 years ago

If I have one email address linked to both a Lead and a Contact in Sugar, and both are on the target list being synced to MailChimp, which module takes priority as far as field mappings?

In other words, if I only add the address information to the Contact and the Lead does not have any extra data, will the single record in MailChimp have the data?

How does SugarChimp handle the many-to-one relationship between modules and email addresses?

Hi Isaac, all good questions. It all depends on the order the data is sent to MailChimp. The last Sugar record data that is sent to MailChimp is what will stick. So if the Lead was sent first, the associated subscriber in MailChimp would get updated to the data of the Lead, but if a contact was synced after, the MailChimp subscriber would take the data of the Contact. And it would stay that way until another update happened. Does that answer your questions?

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense.

In the case of a complete resync it is then random which Sugar module takes precedence?

For all practical purposes, yes seems random. Technically it will sync them based on whatever the order the database is returning the records on.

I'm going to close the case for now. Let me know if you need anything else on this. Thanks!
