#811 - Not Syncing Leads and Contacts from Sugar to MailChimp
Hello,
I'm currently using Sugar Professional: Version 6.7.6 (Build 1243). It appears that no new leads/contacts have been synced over into MailChimp when they're added. I've checked all the various settings listed in the SugarChimp Configuration section of Admin, but they all seem to match okay. We don't ever use the "Target List" module of Sugar - only "leads" and "contacts" need to be synced but I'm not sure how to make that happen because the instructions seem to only apply to "target lists".
The only thing SugarChimp appears to be successfully doing is when someone unsubscribes, it marks the lead/contact email as opted out. (It does not mark the email as invalid when there is a hard bounce, though, which I thought it should do?)
Thank you very much! LeAnna

Hi Leanna, Target Lists is a required module used to get the Contacts and Leads to sync to MailChimp. For each MailChimp List you have, you will want to have a corresponding Sugar Target List record. Any Contact or Lead that you add to the Sugar Target List will be synced to it's corresponding MailChimp List.
The hard bounces should be unsubscribing people as well. What company are you with? I'm not able to see which company your account is related to so I can't lookup what version of SugarChimp you are using. Maybe you're on an old version of SugarChimp. You can find the version in Admin, scroll to SugarChimp section and go to "Health Status" page.
Thanks!

Is there a way to automatically have Sugar add every new lead and contact created to a target list? It's very inconvenient to add that extra step of manually adding new people to a target list.
The company I'm with is Consultwebs and we use Sugar on Demand. In the SugarChimp section there is no "Health Status" page so it probably is an old version - the only pages there are: SugarChimp Configuration, Module Log Level, SugarChimp Process Queue , SugarChimp Campaigns Synchronization, SugarChimp Webhooks, and License Key.
Thanks!

Jason updated me on things this morning regarding upgrading to the new version. That makes a lot of sense now why you don't see some of the new links :) Definitely let me know if you need anything while you do that.
In regards to automatically adding Leads and Contacts to the Target List, there are a couple ways people handle this.
1) Create a sugar workflow to notify someone to add contacts and leads to the target list as they are added to sugar (obviously not ideal if you have a lot of contacts/leads coming in)
2) Create a sugar report that contains all of the people you would like to send to MailChimp. Before you run a campaign or at the beginning of each week (whichever frequency makes sense to you) you can go to your target list and update the list from the report.
Without custom code, these are the best two options. There are a couple other solutions from our partners that are in the works that will eventually automatically update your lists, but those have not been released yet. I can definitely let you know when they do though.

I'm re-installing SugarChimp because we had version 3. I'm using Sugar Professional Version 6.7.6 (Build 1243).
When installing, under the 2) Schedule step it said: We noticed that the SugarCRM Scheduler has never ran. If you haven't already, please follow the steps below to set up the Scheduler. This is how we will be able to sync your lists. Once you are done click on the "Next" button.
Note: In order to run Sugar Schedulers, add the following line to the crontab file: * * * * * cd ; php -f cron.php > /dev/null 2>&1
I can't figure out how to get to a crontab file or what it is. I am only using sugar on demand so there are no local files. Help?

Hi Victoria, since you are using the Sugar On-demand servers, Sugar already has that part setup for you. You won't need to worry about that. You can continue through to step 3 and 4.
Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!

Hi Victoria and Leanna, I just wanted to check-in.
