#1015 - Mouse drawn pictures save; touchscreen drawings do not
I really appreciate the fact you guys built this plugin for SugarCE. It is really helpful!
I am having an interesting problem that I was wondering if you could help solve. Any drawings made with the mouse will save. Any drawing made solely with the touchscreen will not save... unless you make at least one dot with the mouse in the drawing... then the whole drawing will save.
This was done on a Windows 8 tablet PC touchscreen in Chrome.

You're lucky, we just bought few Surface Pro 3 for internal use, so I will be able to test that. As we rely on a javvascript engine, I will have to check with my team if the javascript engine is ok for touch screen (Under winXP touchscreen acted like a mouse (mouving mouse cursor) but under windows 8.1 ?)
Please allow me few time.

We highly test the module this morning on touchscreens : - Trackpad --> ok - Stylus (surface pro 3) --> ok - Touchscreen --> NOT OK
Seems that any touch screen (despited displayed like a mouse gesture) is not recognized / saved by Sugar except if you use the stylus or trackpad to save an extra point in the drawing.
Example : - Sign using your finger - use mouse/stylus to draw a point anywhere on the drawing area - save ==> ALL Gestures have been saved including the fingers ones.
We are using a JQuery plugin to enable the engine, we have to check both OS / Browser and Engine capabalities to see if we can fix that.

Thanks for the update! That is exactly the same behavior I noticed.

As SugarCRM 6.5 is not compatible with JQuery Mobile that address touch events behaviors we are unable yet to provide gesture events.
We need to find a way to bypass that as the save button at the top and bottom of editview is not saving as expected the new image.
It will need a bit more R&D so we will let it open for now until we have a final solution

Not sure if others would be ok with this, but I would be ok with something that would require the user to touch or click a "save"or "done" box to save the drawing into the field. When using this as a signature capture this would simulate many actual signature capture devices we're all accustomed to... by acknowledging that we "completed the signature." I wonder if that "button" could then run some script that would insert an unseen "dot" or something in that drawing field to get what was captured on the touch screen to save. Might be a useful workaround until a more comprehensive solution can be found.

I actually think the same solution yersterday evening but it is not well integrated with Sugar UI as the windows already have two save buttons. We are currently looking for a way to insert/force the saving of the image while clicking one of the save button

Version 1.74 released today is compatible with touchscreen and stylus. We have extended the default "Save" buttons of SugarCRM to be sure to save the signature's image !
