After I set an invitation to send, it sits in an email pending status for a very long time. Is there somewhere where I can speed up the queue time, or manually force the email to send?

Hello Sanjay,
Depending upon how you have set up your email settings, within the admin page you will find a tab for Schedulers.
There are a couple of Schedulars you can look out for; - Check Inbound Mailboxes - Run Email Reminder Notifications
Please check that these are running as frequently as possible.
