When you need to see important data immediately you don't want to have to go through the slow process of clicking through to different pages. With Quickpreview you can quickly display that related information on the same page without having to click around.

I believe the screenshot is wrong, as what is shown is already standard in SugarCRM

Correct, that's the standard view. This solution allows you to add fields from related records to the preview panel which is beyond just the fields available directly on the record that you are previewing.
