Installation and Configuration
Installation and Configuration
Before you begin, you will need to gather two important pieces of information
- Our connector license key which is provided upon purchase
- Your Salesloft API key. (Contact Salesloft support if you do not know how to get this)
Load the module
When you have those pieces of information handy, install the zip file (module) as you would any other Sugar module using the Sugar Module loader.
Once you have loaded the module, perform a Quick Repair and Rebuild.
Can't hurt to do it twice. Sugar likes 2x QRR... :)
Configuration
Navigate to your Admin hompage and look for the Salesloft panel. Click on Salesloft Configuration.
Keys
You'll be sent to the Salesloft Connector Configuration page. On the first tab, enter the connector license key provided upon purchase.
On the second tab enter the Salesloft API key from your Salesloft portal.
Be sure to press Save to save these credentials.
It may take a minute or so for the connector to contact Salesloft, perform the authentication, and retrieve your users and fields.
Users
Once the keys have been accepted, validated and saved, you must map users.
- The left-hand column is an alphabetical drop-down list containing all of your Sugar users.
- The right-hand column is an alphabetical drop-down list containing all your Salesloft users.
The first user is the default user. This mapping will be used when a sync event is triggered by a user who can not be found in the destination system.
In the image below, Zach is a user in both systems and is considered the default user.
If a Sugar user named Sally performs an action in Sugar that triggers a sync, and you have not mapped Sally using this interface, then the connector will list Zach as the owner of the changes in Salesloft because Zach is the default user. The reverse path, from Salesloft to Sugar, is managed the same way.
Modules and Fields
The Salesloft to Sugar connector allows you to configure the synchronization by field and module. You can turn these modules on or off, depending on your specific business processes:
- Accounts
- Contacts
- Leads
- Opportunities
- Calls
- Meetings
First select the module you want to manage, then set the Sync Enabled drop-down to Yes or No.
Below that you will see the Salesloft fields on the left, the Sugar fields in the middle and the directionality on the right-hand side. Fields will only be synchronized if you configure a mapping. Similarly, the sync only fires if a user edits a field which you have mapped.
Sugar Scheduler
At this point, any edits made in Sugar will be synchronized with Salesloft (assuming the module, the fields, and the directionality are set to sync).
To synchronize Salesloft to Sugar, you need to create and activate one or two scheduled jobs using the Sugar Scheduler.
Navigate to the Scheduler interface in the Sugar admin section. Create a new scheduled job and create two new schedulers using the Salesloft to Sugar Sync job and the Salesloft Scheduled Sync job.
Activate the Salesloft to Sugar Sync scheduler and set it to fire fairly ofter, but not so frequently that it will lag your system. Setting the scheduler to fire every five minutes is a good practice, but you need to determine if you can wait five minutes to see a Salesloft edit reflected in Sugar. If you can wait longer, set the scheduler to fire less frequently, but always strike a balance between waiting for an update and potentially creating latency.
The Salesloft Scheduled Sync is a job that allows you to batch synchronize records. You might use this when you import a large number of leads or contact and want to delay the sync process until after business hours. This scheduler should remain Inactive until you need to use it. Many customer never actually use this job.
