Web page says 6.5.26 is supported but when I install v2.7.5 Sugar says it is not compatible with this version.

it shoudl be but in the meantime we officially moved the theme to the standrd theme of SpiceCRM (www.spicecrm.io) and there it is freeyl available as part of SpiceCRM (our version of SugarCRM CE).
