#1082 - Followed the typical setup example but Sarah and Will cannot view/edit their respective teams' leads
Hi Jason,
I followed the example in https://www.sugaroutfitters.com/docs/securitysuite/example-of-a-typical-setup. It works for Jill and the sales reps, but there's a problem with Sarah and Will. Sarah and Will can see their respective teams' leads in the list view, but they can only view/edit their own leads but cannot do the same for their teams' leads. Their teams' leads do not appear in their list view as hyperlinks.
I'm trying version 2.8.0 on Sugar CE 6.5.18. Please help.
Thanks, Paul

Hello Paul,
Make sure to add Sarah and Will's teams to the leads by opening the lead and adding it in the Security Groups subpanel. It sounds like you have View/Edit set to Group only for their rights which means that the group needs to be assigned to the record.
You can also assign groups using the Mass Assign on the list view.
Just in case, also make sure to do a Repair Roles and a Quick Repair and Rebuild.
Let me know how that goes.
Cheers, -Jason

Hi Jason,
I've already assigned the groups to the leads previously, and I ran the repairs as you instructed, but it doesn't seem to affect the outcome.
And I tried removing the West Sales group from one of the leads belonging to one of Sarah's sales reps, and Sarah's list view has one fewer lead than before, so that part is working.
Is there anything else I could try?
Thanks, Paul

I misread the problem. If there is no hyperlink then it means that Sarah and Will's roles are set to Owner or None for View/Edit on the leads module. You can check what Sarah's ultimate rights are by going to Sarah's user record and viewing the access grid. This will show you how all roles related to Sarah are ultimately being inherited. Meaning that if Sarah has one or more roles assigned directly to her or to any of her groups it will take them all, smash them together, and give the greatest (or least depending on your SecuritySuite configuration) rights. I'd start by checking that grid and then working backwards.

Hi Jason,
In Sarah's access grid, everything's shown as 'Group', the Roles inside the access grid has 'Group Only' and the Security Groups has 'West Sales'.

I'll drop you an email to see if we can set something up so that I can take a quick look.

We were able to work through this one. The default settings has "Strict Rights" checked which in the example story means that the links for the managers for records assigned to their groups and not directly to them don't show up. Unchecking that setting resolved the issue.
