#1172 - restrict groups to Inbound email account

Open Bug? created by DesislavaTomova 9 years ago

Hello,

In our company, we have several Inbound email account. We need to restrict groups from being able to see some inbound email accouts. I tested the functionality, but I cannot understand how it works. It restricts users to send emails from the email account, but they are still able to add the group email account and see the emails in it. Is there a way, to restrict them from viewing the emails?

We are using SecurityGroups - Premium Edition 2.6.8.

Thanks!

    Hello Desislava,

Users shouldn't see the inboxes when they go to add an inbox. If they already added the inbox prior to enabling this feature then you may need to manually remove them from each user.

If you do see the inboxes as a non-admin user when they shouldn't appear it may be due to being on an older version of SugarCRM and SecuritySuite. Are you able to attempt upgrading or testing this out on 6.5.20? I'm not able to currently replicate the issue.

    Thanks, -Jason

    Hi,

Just to be sure that we are on the same point: 1) Admin -> Security Suite Settings I have checked Inbound email account . 2) Admin -> Inbound Email - > I have assigned the group email to a security group

I log as non-admin from another group. Firstable he cannot see anything except My Email in the email module, but when he clicks on Setting, he can add the group email, which I created. The only difference with the users, from the correct group is that they see they cannot send email. We are using SugarCRM CE 6.5.16 and SecurityGroups - Premium Edition 2.6.8. Do you recommend ungrading to a newer version of your plugin?

    Hi eggsurplus,

Can you confirm that this are the right steps? 1) Admin -> Security Suite Settings -> check Inbound email account . 2) Admin -> Inbound Email - > I have assigned the group email to a security group

Just to be sure I haven't missed something? Is that everything I should do?

That should be it and now when a user in that group goes to add a new mailbox they should only see mailboxes that their group was added to. There is a chance that your version of SecuritySuite 6.5.16 has issues which is why I recommend upgrading to 6.5.20.

I'll try testing this on a local 6.5.16 instance here to see if I can get it to work.

OK, please let me know if it works on your 6.5.16 instance.

    Thanks
