#1608 - Users with group access unable to view records when re-assigned to team members in the same group

Closed General Question created by rk45 9 years ago

Hi eggsurplus, I have followed the link https://www.sugaroutfitters.com/docs/securitysuite/example-of-a-typical-setup , in creating a 2-tier hierarchy. My configurations are as below : Sugar version/Instance **: SuiteCRM 7.2.2 & 7.3.1(I have both instances running seperately on different systems). **Security Suite settings : 'Strict Rights' -> UNcheck ; 'Inherit from Created By User' -> CHECKED ; 'Inherit from Assigned To User' -> CHECKED ; 'User Role Precedence' -> CHECKED

Issue : 1. when a non-admin user with 'owner' rights creates a record(account/lead) he is able to view the record, but there is no security group assigned (I have to manually assign later as admin). 2. When a non-admin user with 'group' access creates a record and assigns to his team member with owner rights, he cannot view the record and also there is no security group assigned for this record(I will have to manually assign later and the the group user will be able to access it).

My understanding is that the new records will be assigned to groups automatically based on users(assigned/creators) as per my security settings. Can you please help me if I am wrong somewhere or any additional configurations required.

The "Inherit from Created By User" option will add any groups that are assigned to the user who creates the record. Is that user a member of any groups? Similarly, the "Inherit from Assigned To" will inherit groups that the newly assigned user is a member of.

If those users are in groups then I'd suggest checking the sugarcrm.log to see if any errors are happening right around the time of assigning those. Also make sure that the user's membership in that group is not set as "Not Inheritable". This is a checkbox in the Security Groups subpanel when you look at a user.

For testing, you may want to also disable the "Use Creator Group Select" option.

Let me know what you find.

I have followed the steps to no luck. I could not find any errors in the sugar logs as well. Attached screen shots for reference.

Security groups are not getting assigned automatically when a new record is created. I will have to add the record manually to any groups.

You can email me the screenshots as well to solutions@eggsurplus.com. If you can send over temporary access with your url and an admin account I can also take a quick look.

Also, can you send me over your sugarcrm.log? Thanks!
