#31 - Assign multiple users to a record
I have members of different sales team working the same account. Now I need a sales rep from team 1 to be able to search for and view his customers and a rep from team 2 to se hers, where some of those account is the same ones.
I guess I need the possibility to assign multiple users to the same account, or is there a better way?

To implement multiple users is a real tough one. Would it work to instead add one as the assigned user and for the other user to assign its team to the record? I generally don't see a need for different sales teams to be able to collaborate together. What's the use case here?

The user case is that I have two different brands, A and B. Then I have sales rep 1 from brand A working an account, adding contacts and opportunities and then sales rep 2 from brand B gets a call from the same company. How is this person supposed to add the account to his or her list of customers while not loosing the old assignment?
User 1 should be assigned to the customer for brand A and B would like to assign the account to her for brand B. I guess I can assign the account to both security groups but that won't help me decide what contacts, opportunities and calls that's related to team A and team B respectively, right?
I suppose I could have two separate instances of Sugar all together but that will create a real hassle for both management and some sales reps working both Brands.

This is an interesting challenge. SugarCRM in general does not do well with multiple individual user assignments. Everything is centered around a single "assigned_user_id" field. So having both users utilize the same assigned_user_id field capabilities (such as the "My Items" checkbox on searches) just isn't currently possible.
What I would do in this case is give both users rights to List/View All, but Edit Group only. When Sales Rep 2 gets the call from Company X about Brand B the user can then search for Company X and add their Security Group to Company X so that the user can edit the record.
Generally, I've seen it where Company X calls Sales Rep 1 which then handles adding Sales Rep 2 to the record (giving authorization to Sales Rep 2 to help on the account). This process seems to work well.

Four years later and we have this feature request finally ready to go. Now part of the Enterprise plan, you can assign multiple assigned users to any record with the new Additional Assigned User(s) field. Works just like the Assigned to field works. More information about it can be found on this doc: Multiple Assigned Users.

Hello. This feature is in the Enterprise plan of SecuritySuite. If you have Enterprise installed and you are not seeing it try running a Quick Repair and Rebuild, a Rebuild Relationships, and a Repair Roles. You should then see it.
