#64 - How "Push Message Dashlet" feature works?

Closed Bug? created by N2ST Verified Purchase 11 years ago

I’m using SugarCRM 6.5.10 with Security Suite 2.6.4 and when I open "Admin > Security Suite > Push Message Dashlet", I see a blank page with this message “Done”. What Am I supposed to see in this page? Maybe a configuration for the dashlet messages? Is this message right? What does it mean? Thanks in advance. Regards. Ivan

It immediately pushes the "Group Messages" dashlet to the home page for each existing user. New users will automatically get that new dashlet.

using sugar 5.5.4 and purchased SecuritySuite_GA_2.1.5_for_554.zip yesterday. I dont see how I can add the message dashlet. I dont see anything in the add dashlet section or in security suite setting in admin panel.

    Am I missing something?

    thanks in advance

The Message Dashlet was not added until 6.0.0. I can't guarantee this will work, but it should. Download the latest SecuritySuite and copy these over to your instance. Repair/Rebuild may be needed for the dashlet to register:

      /install_dir/modules/SecurityGroups/Dashlets to /modules/SecurityGroups /install_dir/modules/SecurityGroups/SecurityGroupMessage.php to /modules/SecurityGroups /install_dir/modules/SecurityGroups/language to /modules/SecurityGroups

I can't really support 5.5.4 since so much has changed since 3.5 years ago in SugarCRM, but this may do the trick.

Hi Jason - I downloaded the latest free version, but the following file is not there: /install_dir/modules/SecurityGroups/Dashlets to /modules/SecurityGroups

i noticed that this is in the premium version. Since I purchased SecuritySuite_GA_2.1.5_for_554.zip, anyway that you can send/email me the dashlet files so that I can test out your work around?

    Thanks

Hi Jason - Thanks for sending me the required files. I copied the files over per your direction, did repair/rebuild, but did not notice anything new in the security suite setting section. One thing though, when I go to HOME and want to add a new dashlet, I do see the "Group Message" dashlet. I was able to add it to my home, but don't see how I can send out a group message. Can you please help out?

here is a screen shot of my home: http://tinypic.com/r/30vd43l/5

There is no config item for that. Did you reload the window as it states to do? If so, then maybe it just won't work with 5.5.4. There was a pretty drastic change from 5.5 to 6.0. Although it seems like this should work.

Jason - is there a demo of security suite where I can see how the group message works?

I did reload the window, but nothing. it is still the same way as I indicated in the screen shot mentioned above.

how would an admin send a group message? is it through this dashlet or some other area of the application?

jason - never mind about the demo. Saw the screenshot from: https://www.sugaroutfitters.com/docs/securitysuite/features#custommodule

I do not have the "make a post" option. Would it be possible to let me know which part of dashlet code needs to get changed in order to make this work on 5.5.4? Since the dashlet is showing up, I think it is a simple fix. At least I hope it is.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    thanks in advance

Hi Jason - interested to know if you have had a chance to look into the above post and see what it takes to make "make a post" field visible in 5.5.4.

    thanks

In modules/SecurityGroups/Dashlets/MessageDashlet/MessageDashlet.php check out getPostForm(). This is where the form gets generated and displayed. If your current user is not an admin or is a member of 0 groups the form will not display.

      Hello,

The key is to select the appropriate group under "Select a Group" when making a post.

I just tested this scenario. Chris is assigned to both East Sales and West Sales. As an admin user I post "Test to East" to the East Sales team, "Test to West" to the West Sales team, and "Test to All" to all groups. Chris then refreshes the message dashlet and sees all 3 messages.

      Does that help? -Jason

      Thank You for Quick reply!

Suppose there are two Groups East and West. When admin(Chris) enters a post as 'Msg. to All' with All group then he see it. Then i attach these two group to admin user(Chris) in Security Group Management detail view. After that i post 'Msg. to East' with East group, then this post is not visible to Chris in Group Message Dashlet.Same case occured West Group. But when i removed East or West group attached with Chris. Then i seen that post with respect to assigned group.

So i conclude that user can assign to only each group at a time.My question is that Can i assign only one group to user at a time? or we can assign no.of groups to a user. Can you please clarify my doubt?

      Regards, Manish

Try it with a non-admin account to get a clearer understanding of how it works. With admins, you can see any message that you post to a group (or to all), but you cannot see any messages that someone else posts in a group unless you as an admin are also in that group.

The behavior that you are describing is not what I'm seeing at all. I'm not sure if you are on an old 5.5 version of SugarCRM, but I don't recall that ever happening. You always see all of the messages for any group that you are a member of. You can be assigned to 50 groups and still see the messages from each group.

Perhaps there is a related database error in your sugarcrm.log that may help? Try also running a Quick Repair & Rebuild and executing any generated SQL. Then do a Repair Relationships.

      Hope this helps! -Jason
