#1788 - Assigning multiple groups
Hello!
I want to assign a user to multiple groups, but each group has a different view. I need to assign the view based on the group that has the most privileges. Currently, the user is assigned the view of the lesser group.
The scenario: Group 1 is an Agent group and group 2 is a Supervisor group. I want the Supervisor to have full access of all Agent cases, but showing the Supervisor view. Right now, if I assign both groups to a user, the Supervisor has the Agent view, which is missing fields that are reserved for the Supervisors.
There are 3 different groups that will have this type of access, and none of them should be able to see cases that are not escalated to their group. Escalation to new groups is handled by the Supervisors for each group, and a logic hook is used to show the new groups Supervisors and then the Supervisors will handle assignment.
Is this all possible?

Yes. When you go to a Security Group go down to the Users subpanel. There is a Primary Group checkbox in that subpanel. This drives which view to show if a user is a member of multiple groups. Edit that row in the subpanel, that checkbox, then save. This will now be the view that shows for a user.

I do not see that option, it must be in a later version than I have installed?

Which version do you have installed? I'm not able to find anything under your name here. It'll be in SecuritySuite version 2.6.7 which is any version of SugarCRM CE from 6.5.15 and up. The custom views and this functionality is only available in the SecuritySuite edition that is available here. It isn't included in SuiteCRM by default if that is what you are using.

We are using 2.6.5, and are on SugarCRM CE 6.5.13
I think the information you have for our account is Julia Green, who was the procurer

That would explain why it isn't showing. Is there any chance that you could upgrade to 6.5.22? There have been a tremendous amount of security fixes and other general improvements since 6.5.13.

Unfortunately, that is not something we can do at the moment. We have quite a few customizations, our database is huge (waiting on the archive approval), and we have to stick to stringent release schedules.

Believe me, I've tried to get us into position for an upgrade, but I can only move as fast as those above me ;-)

I completely understand that. What I would advise here is to grab the latest SecuritySuite version for 6.5.22 and then merge the changes to add that capability. If you are comfortable with that approach then I can lookup which files to merge and which new files to copy over. Give me a day or two to compile that list.

We're working on a new PO to get the subscription renewed. Please let me know what changes need to be made as soon as you have the list. Thanks!

If you get that subscription going I'll just package it in the 6.5.13 version for you. It'll be easier that way.

That would be awesome. Thank you so much for all of your support, you run a solid platform.

We got a new subscription, but it was made through a 3rd party. Can I email you the product key, and you can send the new package?
Yes, please do. Who is the 3rd party?

A company called Kambrian.

I recall this arrangement now. I've confirmed that the subscription is active. I'll send over the new package later today after finishing testing.

Awesome. Thanks!

Changes are done, but I need more time to test. I'll send it over by tomorrow morning.
