#449 - Designating view for users in multiple groups

Closed General Question created by Jackal Software 10 years ago

Hello,

I have a bit of an odd issue. Originally we were using Security Suite to make different views for different roles in our company. Now we need to also use for group permissions. We have a team with a security group for the sales people and one for the 2 managers of that team. However now the managers also need to be a member of the sales team's view for group permissions.

Is there a way to force one of the groups to be the layout for certain users? When I added the managers to the sales view their list, detail, and edit views were correct but the Advanced search options were of the sales team.

Was thinking setting the notinheritable in the securitygroups_users table = 1 for the view I don't want that user to have?

Thanks a lot.

Yes, check the "Primary Group" box for a group under a user. This drives which layout to show if there are multiple groups associated to a user.

Sorry Jason, I failed to mention I'm on 6.5.10 CE. I went to the SG subpanel in users and didn't have the Primary Group box as an option. Just Not Inheritable checkbox.

So the views are all correct but just search Basic/Advanced search use options for a different SG.

Did you try checking the "Primary Group" box to force the correct search view to show? After that, also try editing the search view for that group layout and deploying.

If you want a certain custom layout to show for a user just make sure that Primary Group is set for that group for that user.

I apologize :) . I've been searching but don't see the Primary Group box anywhere. Should be in the user's subpanel for Security Groups right? Or at least in the Edit View when selected?

Sorry, it was added as of version 6.5.15 (https://www.sugaroutfitters.com/docs/securitysuite/release-notes). If you can upgrade to the latest version (6.5.16) I'd highly recommend doing that for many reasons.
